My first week as a design intern at Casson Mann was an inspiring blend of structured learning and collaboration. Monday began with an induction, followed by a tour of the office. Casson Mann’s office is thoughtfully designed, I was particularly captivated by the beautiful bookcase wall and the abundance of natural light throughout the entirety of the space. I was formally introduced to the team and to the projects that I would soon be joining. The inviting and supportive nature of the team truly made me feel at home, setting the tone for the days ahead. In the afternoon, I dove into VectorWorks through tutorial videos, marking the beginning of my journey to master this design software.
Tuesday’s morning was dedicated to a lesson with Weimeng, a junior designer at Casson Mann, focusing on developing my skills on VectorWorks. I revisited and familiarised myself with the brief for the project I would now be working on, and created my own set of notes, as there would be an important upcoming meeting later in the week.
Thursday was a highlight, marked by the significant meeting previously mentioned. It was very inspiring to observe the team’s dedication to delivering the highest quality outcome for the curators.
Each day built on the previous one, establishing a smooth progression of learning and skill development. I feel more equipped to navigate the complexities of our projects and I am excited about the potential for further development in the coming weeks.
