Week 12

6th January – 10th January ♡

This week was a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to sharpen my 3D modelling skills, driven by the combination of time pressure and personalised guidance. The need to refine the object list arose from discrepancies in the initial 3D models that were reviewed during an on-site storage visit. Addressing these inaccuracies meant working quickly and thoughtfully to ensure the new models would align with the project’s objectives.

The pace of the week left little room for hesitation, which pushed me to refine my workflow and decision-making process. Each day began with catch-up meetings with Dominga, a designer at Casson Mann, where I could discuss specific challenges and receive one-to-one guidance. These sessions were invaluable in helping me build confidence and learn efficient approaches to tackle complex geometries or missing details in the objects.

Under the time pressure, I found myself working more intuitively and developing a better eye for identifying potential modelling issues. Revisiting object images and details repeatedly honed my ability to visualise the objects in three dimensions and assess how they should be represented in digital form. The combination of immediate feedback, self-directed problem-solving, and tight deadlines accelerated my learning curve in ways that a less intense week might not have.

By the end of the week, I realised how much my technical and creative skills had grown. Not only did I deepen my understanding of 3D modelling principles, but I also improved my ability to adapt under pressure, troubleshoot effectively, and collaborate through direct feedback. This experience reinforced the importance of balancing precision with efficiency – a skill that will undoubtedly benefit me in future projects.
