Week 21

17th March – 21st March

This week has been a balanced blend of productivity, development, and small but meaningful wins across both my internship and academic commitments.

Monday got off to a productive start as I caught up on my internship blog, giving me a chance to reflect on my recent work and track my ongoing learning. I also began drafting a questionnaire for my self-initiated project – an early but important step towards gathering the insights needed to shape it effectively. Later in the afternoon, I had a brief with Beatrice, who introduced me to a new task involving the conversion of measurements from metric to imperial in an Excel sheet for one of our U.S.-based projects. Although technical, it proved to be a valuable exercise in precision and problem-solving.

Tuesday was a work-from-home day due to a midday appointment, but I remained productive. I completed the Excel task and made further progress on developing my self-initiated project idea. The rest of the day was focused on preparing for my formative assessment on Wednesday morning, reviewing notes and solidifying my skeleton map.

Wednesday was a standout moment. The spring formative assessment gave me the chance to present the structure of my end-of-year dissertation as well as my ideas for the self-initiated project. I was really pleased with the feedback I received – it reassured me that I’m on the right track and gave me a newfound confidence to move forward with my draft. Returning to the office in the afternoon, I picked up where I left off with the materials library task, building on last week’s efforts.

Thursday was more focused and hands-on as I continued working on the materials library. I sifted through archived files in search of useful material references – tedious at times, but satisfying when I uncovered something valuable.

Friday, another remote working day, gave me the space to dive deeper into my self-initiated project. The uninterrupted time helped me refine my direction and bring more clarity to the concept I’m shaping.

Looking back, this week has been constructive and energising. The positive feedback midweek was a real highlight, and it’s given me the motivation to keep the momentum going. I’m starting to see my ideas take form, both in my academic work and my internship, which feels incredibly rewarding.
