31st March – 4th April ♡

This week felt like the first real stretch of creative and academic muscle in a while. Monday began with a milestone: starting my dissertation draft. It helped to have the rhythm of the workday guide me. A resource sharing meeting grounded the morning, and jumping into content tasks with Izzie and Becca added momentum. The afternoon brief on a new project with Donacio, Becca, Izzie and Weimeng opened new layers to the week ahead.
Tuesday carried that collaborative thread forward with another new project. Our morning brief helped clarify our aims, and I enjoyed the hands-on nature of sourcing the building plans. My research into accessible historical sites reminded me why this kind of work matters: making history feel reachable, literally and figuratively.
Wednesday was a mix of discovery and quiet contribution. Creating slides on Religious Tourist Attractions Around the World took me on a global journey from my desk. In the afternoon, helping Elle reorganise old project folders was more fulfilling than expected. It was so interesting to look at everything Casson Mann has achieved over the decades. The initial steps into researching Jean Bart for a concept collage sparked a quiet curiosity as I didn’t know much about him before.
Thursday and Friday were about visual thinking. Sifting through images for the collage felt like hunting for puzzle pieces, each one a possible clue in telling Jean Bart’s story. There’s still a way to go, but the process of assembling something, especially after a week of textual tasks, offered a different kind of creativity.
Looking back, this week was about beginning: the first words of a dissertation, the first plans of a new project, and the first pieces of a collage. Each day offered a different kind of focus, but together they wove a sense of steady progress. A good start.
