Week 17

10th February – 14th February ♡

This week was characterised by detailed and methodical work, ranging from developing object models to refining presentation slides. A significant portion of my time was dedicated to working with Adobe software—tracing, researching, and assembling visuals to enhance the clarity and impact of my presentation materials.

At the start of the week, I continued working on the glass bottle objects task, carried over from the previous week. Concurrently, I began exploring ideas for my self-initiated project. While the initial brainstorming phase can often be gradual, I valued the opportunity to step back and think more conceptually about the direction of my project. I was particularly pleased with the initial ideas I generated, as they provided a strong foundation for further development.

On Tuesday, I transitioned into a more structured workflow, focusing on tracing PNG figurines and sourcing appropriate images for different sections of my presentation slides. This process required extensive use of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, ensuring that the visual elements were both contextually relevant and aesthetically cohesive. Engaging with multiple software platforms not only facilitated a seamless design process but also provided an opportunity to refine my technical skills.

Wednesday followed a similar pattern, balancing the continuation of tracing with the initial stages of image prop development. A key highlight of the day was our first-ever “Lunch and Learn” session, an initiative introduced by Ellie to encourage skill-sharing and mutual growth within the team. The session provided an opportunity for us to review our design skills while supporting and learning from one another. This allowed me to step away from my work, engage with others, and gain insight from a new perspective. This provided a refreshing break in an otherwise intensive workflow.

On Thursday, I resumed tracing figurines in the morning, reinforcing the importance of patience and precision in my process. As I progressed, I began sourcing background images to establish a more cohesive visual narrative. Additionally, refining the image props became a key focus, contributing to the overall composition and ensuring that all elements worked harmoniously.

Friday’s remote working arrangement offered a slight shift in pace while maintaining productivity. The DPS tutorial in the morning provided an opportunity to reflect on my progress and discuss upcoming priorities. In the afternoon, I concentrated on collage work, integrating the traced figures, props, and backgrounds into a more cohesive visual composition.

Moving forward, my primary aim is to ensure that the time invested in refining assets translates into a well-structured and visually compelling final outcome.
