14th October – 18th October ♡

This week was all about balancing learning and hands-on practice, as well as some moments of inspiration. My primary aim was to deepen my understanding of rendering in VectorWorks, and I found plenty of opportunities to do just that through continuous object modelling. The repeated practice also allowed me to grow more comfortable with the software, adding to my confidence.
Monday to Wednesday focused heavily on object modelling. Now that I am more familiar with the software, it was satisfying to see the progress in my models. With each morning and afternoon spent focused on this, I found myself learning how to approach complex shapes and structures more efficiently.
Tuesday afternoon was a nice change of pace, as I visited the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, with the renovation led by Casson Mann. It was a moment to step away from the screen, take in a different environment, and get inspired by it’s unique displays. The visit offered a refreshing break and some creative insights, reminding me of the importance of balancing technical skill with a sense of curiosity.
Thursday was a day of varied tasks. An internal workshop meeting in the morning brought some valuable insights and new perspectives, adding a collaborative dimension to the week’s individual work. It was a chance to discuss ideas, and think about the bigger picture beyond the technical aspects of my current projects.
Friday wrapped up the week with a DPS tutorial in the morning. It was a great opportunity to reflect on my progress so far, receive feedback, and set new directions. The afternoon brought a shift back into familiar territory with more object modelling, but I also had the chance to begin idea mapping for a drawing I would begin working on in the next week. This allowed me to explore new concepts and connect the technical skills I’ve been honing with imaginative thinking.
